Enkindle 135 – 12.04.22 – From the Stump of Jesse

In this reflection for the Second Sunday of Advent, 2022, Kristen Fisher reminds us that God never forgets his promises and that he will never abandon us.

God knew that the Israelites would lose their kings and their kingdom. God knew that they kept letting the real enemy, Satan, into their hearts and that would lead to a big old mess. He knew that they would fear that God had abandoned them, even though what really happened was that they had abandoned God, but God will never abandon them. Then God sent his son, Jesus, the Messiah, the Savior, the one who would rescue them, and all of us from our greatest enemy. During Advent, and during every moment of our lives, God never forgets his promises, and he will never abandon us. He has sent his son Jesus, born at Christmas in Bethlehem, which by the way is the same town that David was from. God has sent Jesus to conquer the enemy and rescue us, but we have to stop letting that enemy into our hearts and our lives. Let us repent and welcome him into our hearts this Advent.

Kristen was raised in a Catholic family, but it wasn't until middle school when she really encountered the Lord. Her faith journey ultimately led her to graduate from Franciscan University with a Bachelors Degree in theology and anthropology, and she left with a heart that was ready to share the Faith in the same way that had changed her own life; youth ministry. Kristen served as a youth minister in the Archdiocese of Baltimore for 16 years, spending most of her time serving middle schoolers and their families, specifically. She left parish ministry to join our team as we seek to equip and empower families to evangelize their own kids in a fun, authentic and dynamic way, all while working alongside parish evangelists. Kristen has been married to her husband Greg for  15 years, and together they are blessed to be raising 4 children.
