In this reflection for Good Shepherd Sunday, 2022, Kristen Fisher encourages us to remember that Jesus is the Good Shepherd, and that he is with us in whatever suffering we’re enduring.
Jesus is not far from you. He does not stand in heaven watching you from afar, keeping score of how well you’re doing, letting you fall into the ditch and just saying “wow, that stinks”. Jesus is all in it with you because the shepherd does not leave his flock. Let us be grateful for the Good Shepherd. Even though he still allows us to suffer. Let us be grateful that he suffers with us and that he leads us out of the suffering into eternal life.
